Cuddling up in bed watching Halloween movies all night long with candy spread around me sounds just perfect to me. If you look at any of my Halloween blog posts you can see why I love Halloween so much… the crisp air, falling leaves, haunted houses, bonfires, and corn mazes.
To really get into the Halloween and Fall vibe I stay in bed with a bunch of snacks just watching Halloween movies.
In this blog post, I will I give a list of my top favorite Halloween movies to watch. They range from scary horror movies all the way down to kids Halloween movies. I mean most of my favorite Halloween movies are the old school Disney Halloween movies.
So whenever you laying in bed or carving pumpkins just pick a movie from below and enjoy.
Top Favorite Family Halloween Movies
Of course, I have to start my life off with the iconic Halloweentown movies from Disney Channel. As kids, we all wished to go Halloween town and that we were witches. The best movies were, of course, Halloweentown and Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge. The last two movies Halloweentown High and Return to Halloween were not my favorite. Especially considering they completely changed the actress that played Marnie in the last one.
This has movie has been a classic Halloween movie since the 90s. The fact that this movie came out in 1993 and is still considered one of the top Halloween movie for grownups and kids shows how legendary this movie is. They are apparently going to be making a remake but it could never beat this original version.
Twitches & Twitches Too:
Another movie I watched growing up wishing I could be a witch and a twin. Also my second Disney movie on the list. They don’t make movies like this on Disney anymore sadly.
Good Ghouls Go Bad:
This movie is a perfect family movie and every year I still get surprised by the number of people who have never watched it. I always considered this movie, Halloweentown, and Hocus Pocus as my top three Halloween movies.
The Nightmare Before Christmas:
Surprisingly I have never seen this movie despite me telling myself I will each and every year. Maybe this year I will finally get around to watching it.
Casper Meets Wendy:
I think this is another great Halloween movie that tends to get forgotten. However, I think it is an excellent movie and another plus about this movie is that Hilliary Duff is in it. She plays an adorable young witch named Wendy.
Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire:
Another classic Disney Halloween movie that follows the three kids as they try to save there mom who is… on a date with a Vampire.
Don’t Look Under the Bed:
This is my fifth Disney movie on this list. This movie I have to say gave me nightmares growing up. For a Disney movie, it sure was scary and creepy. Even now I still find parts super scary. I cannot believe this movie even aired on Disney.
Tower of Terror:
A great classic Disney movie which I found scary as a child. They even had a ride at Disneyworld made after it or the other way around.
Disney actually had some really scary Halloween movies back in the old days.
This a movie based on R.L Stine and we all know how his books are. The first movie surprised me with how scary it was for a kids movies. It’s a great for kids even with its few scary moments.
Other Family Halloween Movies
The Addams Family
The Haunted Mansion
It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Top Scary Halloween Movie
This is a movie that will have you sleeping with the lights turned on. I have not seen this movie in ages but still, remember some of the scenes that scared me senseless.
The final destination movies have made me scared of amusement parks, airplanes, and highways.
It (2017 Version):
Are you scared of clown? This Stephen King based movie will have you terrified of clowns, red balloons, and the sewer.
The insidious movies have you following the Lambert family and the horrors that inflict them and their son who gets stuck in an alternate dimension in his dream.
Came out a few years ago and was created by the same director from insidious. This movie follows a family whose house is haunted by an evil entity and hire some ghost hunters to assist them.
House of Wax:
Is a movie about six teenagers who get terrorized and killed in small abandoned town. This movie stars Jared Padalecki and Chad Michael Murray two of my favorite male actors who in my opinion complete the movie.
Other Great Scary Halloween Movies
A Nightmare on Elm Street:
